Pulp, Azzano Decimo July 13th, 2012

Sheffield’s Pulp put on a very entertaining 90 minute show in front of about 1,000 loyal fans at Azzano Decimo’s yearly summer international music festival, “La  Fiera Della Musica”, located near the town of Pordenone.

The show was very special for Pulp fans as it was the band’s very first performance in Italy.  And the English alternative rock band certainly paid back the fans’ long wait and enthusiasm with a great performance and light show, especially by their dandy front man, Jarvis Cocker, who also impressed fans with his basic knowledge of Italian.

The British group was founded by a young Cocker way back in 1978 (Cocker's original preference was to name the band after the film “Pulp” starring Michael Caine).  Cocker and Co. recently reunited in 2011 with the original band members, a group made up of six outstanding musicians.  Their first album “It” goes back to 1983 while their second album “Freaks” arrived four years later.

The turning point in the band’s career came about in 1994 during the heyday of the Britpop music scene.  In 1995 the band came out with the album “Different Class” which gave fans two singles, “Common People” and “Disco 2000”.

Following in the footsteps of such great former acts such as UB40, Joe Jackson, Moby, Iggy Pop and Johnny Rotten in the very same venue, Pulp certainly didn’t let down fans (and organizers alike) with their exceptionally fun brand of music!
