Billy Idol, Piazzola sul Brenta, July 7, 2012.

Glam-punk-rock Billy Idol still rocks away!  Yes, William Broad, aka Bill Idol, played a 2 hour non-stop high voltage concert in the wonderful setting of Villa Contarini (by Andrea Palladio) at Piazzola del Brenta near Padua in front of about 5,000 adoring fans.

Idol’s been with us since 1976 and at 57 years of age can still pack one mean punch (and he’s in pretty good shape too).  Joined on stage by his loyal guitarist Steve Stevens and four other musicians, Idol entertained fans with his own brand of rock and roll with famous songs such as “Eyes Without A Face”, “White Wedding”, “Flesh For Fantasy”, “Mony Mony”, the Doors’s “L.A. Woman”, “Dancing With Myself”, “Sweet Sixteen”, “Shock The System” and everyone’s all-time favorite Idol song, “Rebel Yell”!

At one point Idol was literally moved to the point of crying as he mentioned that it was his father’s birthday, and there from behind the stage popped out Billy’s 88 year-old father!  Yes, even old rockers (still) have feelings…

The event was brought to us thanks to the folks over at Hydrogen Festival.
