Kasabian, Tarvisio July 20, 2012

Kasabian played in front of a quasi-packed small arena in the mountain resort of Tarvisio, located just near the Austrian border.  Interesting the origins of the band’s name (they were formerly called “Saracuse”).  The band changed their name to Kasabian after Linda Kasabian, a member of the infamous Charles Manson family (Linda had been famous for serving as Manson’s getaway driver).

Poor looming weather conditions though prevented the British band from performing in the town’s main square.  Indeed a pity as even lead singer Tom Meighan was overheard saying, “What a sh… place for a concert”! as the small arena eventually turned into a small sauna for both band members and fans alike.

And much to the joy of fans there was also a tiny bit of Italy in the band given guitarist and backing vocalist Sergio Pizzorno’s Italian roots, yes, the one with the Neanderthal-style hairdo!

Nevertheless, the band (formed in 1997) from Leicester, England came out on top and in a professional manner played close to 20 songs (including tunes from their fourth album, Velociraptor!) for fans who also came from nearby Slovenia for the show, an event which was organized thanks to the folks at the “No Borders Festival” organization together with Azalea Promotion.
