Deep Purple rock Rome, July 2nd, 2022!

Once known as THE world’s loudest band, Deep Purple not only rocked fans at Rome’s outdoor Auditorium venue but after 54 years on the road appeared to still be enjoying themselves immensely.  

At the tender age of 76 (77 in August) lead singer Ian Gillan and with a voice of a 20 year-old led fans down memory lane with favorites such as “Hush”, “Space Truckin’”, “Perfect Strangers”, “Highway Star”, “When A Blind Man Cries” and the world’s most famous opening guitar riff (thanks to former Deep Purple member Ritchie Blackmore), “Smoke On The Water”.  

Gillan was joined on stage by veteran band mates  Roger Glover and Ian Paice—bass guitar and drums respectively—and Jon Lord’s outstanding heir Don Airey on keyboards plus newcomer Simon McBride who is standing in for Steve Morse (due to personal family problems).
