Whitemary in concert at Rome’s Monk club, Feburary 7th, 2025

Italian-born Biancamaria Scoccia, aka Whitemary, is currently on her Italian tour to promote her new album, “New Bianchini”.

Whitemary’s music (she was born in the Abruzzi region of Italy but currently lives in Rome) can be labeled as a mix of synthesizer, analogic and sequencer sounds.

This was her 2nd show at the Monk club, which was named in honour of Thelonius Monk, the American jazz pianist and composer and a founder of the bebop style in the early 1940s.

Soweto Gospel Choir in concert in Rome, December 15th, 2024

The Soweto Gospel Choir played to a packed audience at Rome’s Auditorium Conciliazione theatre (the venue is located near the Vatican).

The choir was formed in 2002 to celebrate the unique and inspirational power of African Gospel music. They have sung for President Bill Clinton, as part of the promotional campaign for the 2010 World Cup, for King Charles and Queen Camilla and also at Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s funeral.

They have been ambassadors for Nelson Mandela’s "46664" campaign and have also sung with many  international artists, such as Ben Harper, Johnny Clegg and Savuka (I saw that band in Montréal in the 1980s at their great jazz festival), Shakira, John Legend and the Black Eyed Peas.
